Natural Garden Pest Insect Control Using Diatomaceous eEarth

So a lot of people ask me, Patti you are an organic gardener, what do you do about all of this little bugs and slugs and all that stuffs that farmers for so long had been trying to come back. Well, I have one of the most amazing products that I discovered. It is actually been use for a really, really long time and it is called Diatomaceous earth
Now, Diatomaceous earth is actually fertilized algae that is found in sedimentary rock and it forms of powdery substance pretty easily. If you are asking what are you doing right now? Why are you watering your garden and watering all the leaves of your garden? Well the reason why I am doing that because I am going to spread the Diatomaceous earth or DE as also known on of my plants. And I want my powder to stick to the leaves of the plants so they have to be moist; they have to have water on them. In order for the dust to stick to the plants, now this is the Diatomaceous earth . This is actually a duster and what we use to dust the crops and let me show you in here. That is the powdery substance, now this is a completely safe for humans and for animals. So really do not have to worry about it getting you know into any other animals that might be around and this is the fun part.
[DEMO]
And you can also use it indoor, this is great if you have got dogs and in the summer time they tend to get fleas you spread these all over there bedding and this is actually really, really safe for human consumption and also animal consumption. Not that I would recommend that you eat it but it is safe. Now Diatomaceous earth , the powder of the fossilized algae gets on to the insects and it is basically dehydrates them and they die. Of all you urbanized out their who are suffering your apartments with cockroaches go and get some DE. This is the organic all natural way to go to get the job done. I am Patti Moreno the Garden Girl. Thanks for watching.

PostHeaderIcon Whats the best natural/organic acne cleanser?

Okay I wanted to go more natural so I’m looking for a new cleanser that has mostly organic ingredients. What are the bestfor acne prone combination skin? Thanks!

Stay away from ProActiv, it’s junk. That stuff made my skin peel and burn.

My absolute favorite wash ever is Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face wash. It’s made with tea tree oil and castille soap which makes it extra gentle and it works! IIRC it’s made of 80% organic ingredients, completely vegan, and not tested on animals. Best of all it’s only $7-8 for an 8 oz bottle. DE has a store locator on their site so you can find it near you. I usually buy it at Whole Foods or Earth Fare.

PostHeaderIcon I’m looking for a natural/organic facial cleanser and moisturizer?

I’m looking to be a little more environmentally friendly and want to use a natural/organic cleanser and moisturizer. I’ve heard of:
Juice beauty
Jurlique
Pangea
Nude
I’m sixteen and have normal skin. Not acne prone. What brand is best?

Definitely Lush Products. They work miracles. Go online to lush.com and look through their products, and even better they show real reviews from costumers to help make your decisions easier. Also Aveda products work amazing as well, go online to aveda.com where they also have costumer reviews. Good luck!

PostHeaderIcon Where would a good location be to start an organic/natural beauty product business?

We would like to start a business informing people about what they use on their bodies as well as the bodies of loved ones. We are going to be producing organic, natural products. Where would be a good place to be located to get started?

That’s awesome! I’m actually in a similar boat- I work with Arbonne, which really focuses on that! I am in ND, and that works well. But really, I think ANYWHERE is fine- people are becoming more and more aware of these sorts of things, and I think they will value your business wherever you are! All the best!

PostHeaderIcon Looking for natural (bamboo, or organic) bedding at a reasonable cost online.. any links?

I want to buy all natural, organic sustainable linens for my beds (1 crib, 1 twin bed, 1 double bed), and bath towels and a bath mat.
I am on a budget for it, so nothing toooo expensive, though I am willing to invest in something that will last me a long time… thanks!

Here a few links from stores I personally recommend for the organic lifestyle. You may want to also consider hemp bedding or curtains as well as they are a renewable resource & alot cheaper than bamboo or organic cotton

For the crib you may also want to consider an organic mattress available at almost all of these stores…they do run high though but are said to help cut down on the risk of SIDS.

PostHeaderIcon What are the benefits of exclusively using organic / natural personal care products?

I just researched all the ingredients in my regular haircare and skincare products and I’m really shocked at how many of them are classified as possible carcinogens! Will I benefit from choosing organic / natural / herbal / homemade personal care products? Just wondering as I’ve been using synthetic products all my life and haven’t suffered any ill effects. Although natural is probably best in the longterm. What do you guys think?

There are none (well some people seem to feel good about paying more for inferior products).

There are probably just as many possible carcinogens in ‘organic’ products anyway (hell, practically everything is a possible carcinogen, it just depends on the dose). Realistically if you feed a lot of something to a lab rat you’ll probably be able to induce cancer but the amount given to the lab rat will be a lot higher than what you’ll end up eating, to the point at which there’s no need to worry about it (and naturally occurring foods tend to have a lot of nasty things in them, they aren’t the good, healthy, clean foods their proponents would like you to think they are).

You haven’t suffered any ill effects because synthetic products are in general safer than natural products (which typically haven’t even been tested properly).
