How many companies make organic baby food?
Either in North America or Worldwide.
Well, I cannot answer your question exactly. There are a couple, but I don’t know their names. But, I do have other information you may find useful.
First, breast feed the baby as long as possible. Obviously not till 3 years old or something, cause that would be weird. Not sure if you are a mother, the father, friend, etc. The mother passes on her immunities to the baby, for one. Two, the mothers milk has the perfect amount of fats, vitamins, etc. organic baby food, while better then non organic, is nothing compared to mothers milk. In China, kids are dying because of imperfect formulas. Outside of the Melomean inside the milk.
Also, a couple months ago, the government in America passed a law that says "organic food can contain 75% GMO, (Genetically Modified Organisms), and still be called Organic."
My suggestion would be to grow your own vegetables and fruits, what you can, and make your own baby food. If you need milk, the mother has the best formula already. Any baby food, be it normal or organic, can’t compare to the mother’s milk.
Also, babies who are fed with the mothers milk will have 30% larger brains then kids that don’t. And since your brain grows only for a certain amount of years as a kid, 30% larger is awesome.
If you really want organic food, don’t go for big companies. The best bet to get close to organic is local farms and farmers markets.

Can switching from regular baby food to organic baby food be gassy for the infant?
I wouldn’t think so…I’d think it might be if it was the other way around, if you were to go from organic to regular baby food…as regular baby food can have all kind of extra additives in it that the baby’s system isn’t used to.
Does anyone know if you can buy cow and gate baby milk and organic baby food in barbados?
I’m travelling to Barbados with my 7 month old and don’t want to have to carry all his food with me. Is there somewhere I can buy these bits?
Thanks
Im sure they do the Hipp Organics and Heinz but im not 100% sure on cow & gate. My cousin lives there and she feeds her baby Heinz. So they definitly do Heinz. Why does it have to be cow & gate? Most baby foods are the same – use the same sources and ingredients its just Hipp Organic that use organic food but you can try Heinz tempoarily while your on holiday?

Baby Food Organic vs Locally grown?
My son is currently on all organic baby food. Unfortunately there is not a very large selection of organic baby food. I know there are several online stores I can order from (if I made six-figures =)) but I was actually thinking about making my own baby food at home. I was wondering from a health standpoint whether it would be better to feed him locally grown produce that has been SUPER carefully washed or if it would be better to purchase organic food from our local grocery store. What are your thoughts??
When you say locally-grown, are you referring to locally-grown by *certified organic* growers, or just a regular Mom ‘n’ Pop stand at the farmer’s market? Small-time farmers are actually one of the most notorious users of pesticides because they are not regulated like commercial farms. Unless they are organic certified. Some farmers voluntarily eschew pesticides, but not all do. Besides, how would you know?
The other part of the equation is that organic food at a grocery store may not have frequent turnover and is consequently not that fresh. This may or may not be true, depending on what kind of people shop at the store. I have been to purely organic stores and their produce looked like it was picked a month ago. Rotting and falling to pieces. Give me the fresh normal produce any day.
If you can find a local organic grower, that is the best solution from a health standpoint.

Do you buy organic baby food?
I plan on making most of my son’s baby food myself, so that will be organic.
But, we get WIC and WIC only pays for regular baby food, not organic and nothing with DHA added, so how important do you think organic is?
Should I use the baby food WIC gives us even though it’s not organic?
I started out thinking no big deal, and bought the regular food. Then I heard a bit about organic food on good morning america. They said 15 pesticides were found in 1 jar of baby food (trace amounts of course). I decided the extra 20 cents, or whatever it was, was worth it to me. Target has good baby food prices — cheaper than Walmart even (or at least they were 2 years ago)
Get what you can afford. Do your best, and if you find yourself with a little extra, then consider the organic. Kudos to you for making your own food though!
where can i buy a case of organic baby food?
i am having problems finding a variety of organic baby food and i would like to know where i can order some
We actually found flats of Earths Best organic baby food at Costco and Babies R Us. Saved LOADS of money. Those don’t appear on their websites right now though. So instead, give this a shot: http://www.mannaharvest.net/index.php/cPath/1208_1502
24 packs of organic fruits vegs and entrees for 26.50 a piece.
Hope this is helpful.
Oh, also, for home use we found the directions for making frozen food cubes for babies (to be reheated as needed) in a book called Super Baby Food really helpful. We were pretty nervous about making our own (and frankly reluctant to spend what we feared would be a ton of time) but it’s surprisingly efficient. Best wishes to you.
